Corsica 'Le Bois du Cerf' Rouge 2022, Domaine Vico

One of Corsica's best producers, a historic one at that as the domaine was founded in 1901. They work both organically and biodynamically and focus on local varieties rather than more commercial international ones. ‘Le Bois du Cerf’ Rouge comprises a blend of 50% Niellucciu (Sangiovese) and 50% Sciaccarellu, sourced from 30-year-old vines planted on schist and basalt. The grapes are 100% destemmed, with each variety fermented separately in concrete tanks, with indigenous yeast, for 45 days. Super juicy, pure red with crunchy freshness, sandy gliding tannins and lots of cherry and garrigue herb action. Yum.
